Hospitals are incredibly busy places, and may have thousands of eomployees between multiple facilities and locations. When a patient is in need, we need to rapidly cut through the complexities of scheduling and afford teams the ability to connect and collaborate with the right team member for their patients needs.

Challenges & Design Solutions

Challenges

  • Care teams struggle to quickly determine the availability of specialists in real-time, causing delays in critical situations.

  • When searching for a specialist, users face difficulties in navigating large lists, leading to prolonged search times.

  • Organizing video visits requires multiple steps, increasing the time and effort needed for setting up consultations.

Design Solutions

  • A design that provides a visual status indicator for provider availability allows instant recognition. This feature has led to a reduction in response times for urgent consultations by enabling teams to contact the right specialist at the right time.

  • The design simplifies the search with filters for location and specialty, guiding users to a single best contact. By shortening search times, the interface helps care teams quickly locate the appropriate specialist, improving the workflow.

  • We developed a workflow that allows users to schedule live video visits directly from the availability view, reducing the setup process. This change has shortened video visit setup times twice, allowing faster access to specialist consultations.

Service Line Oncall Configuration

Challenge

Providers are busy and their availability may change from week to week. Static configurations may become outdated and show incorrect availability of providers resulting in delayed care for patients.

Design Solution

A simple administrative console allows for flexible service line configuration and maintenance including escalation pathways and priority call queues.
